What is TRACE?
TRACE is a social enterprise run by the Hub which is focused on recycling, reusing and reinvention. With the motto ‘leave no trace’, we aim to reduce the impact and trace we leave behind by saving from landfill.
For our trainees who work with TRACE, recycling and saving waste from landfill is a key part of their working day. By sorting items like fabric, books, CDs and DVDs, the Hub is able to ensure that materials are recycled or given a new purpose within the shelves of our very own Scrapstore. Our warehouse area provides a real working environment within the safety of the Hub, teaching valuable skills and helping the environment!
Materials and items that enter through the TRACE scheme also provide our Hub trainees with materials to reuse in various projects. From creating planters as part of Yeovil in Bloom or set designs for the Hub drama group, we try to reuse as much as we can, as a standard.
Creativity is at the heart of the Hub, as it is a vital skill to learn and fun to join in! TRACE items made by our trainees, volunteers or donated by our creative customers are all sold at the Scrapstore. This allows us to create unique one-offs, each with their own unique back story and use of materials saved from landfill.
We are always looking for volunteers or makers to help with TRACE products, is that you? Contact us below.
Saving from landfill
We have saved between 35-40 tonnes of waste from landfill in 2017 by recycling and repurposing.
Our circular model allows us to take clean industry waste and either re-sell as scrap in our Scrapstore, or recycle.
We rely on donations from the public and businesses, which in turn provides a working environment for our trainees providing valuable experience and training.
We need your donations
Are you a business that has clean waste like packaging or surplus stock that could be reused or recycled by our TRACE team? Do you have a pile of unused books, DVDs or CDs?
If you do, we would love to hear from you, contact us to arrange a drop off or for a small fee we can pick up from you, within a 10 mile radius of the Hub.
